When Small Text Strategies Work The Bestsellers
Most of what we might call “small text” strategies consist of ways to build links to your sites via the creation of small chunks of content or other simple strategies. These techniques are quick and easy. When do they really work, though?
After all, we all know better than to believe that you can rank #1 for a highly competitive keyword terms using nothing but forum, profile and resource box links. Those inbounds have value, but not THAT much value.

Small text strategies have substantial power when it comes to ranking for less competitive long-tail keywords. You may not be able to secure the top slot for “widgets” with small text, but you can definitely become dominant for “refurbished red widget sale”. And when you consider both the cumulative power of having high rankings for multiple long-tails and the simplicity of small text approaches, that makes the whole thing pretty darn attractive!
