Grammar Matters: Writing Good Blog Comments

In shorter writing mediums, such as text messages or , sometimes grammar and spelling can be ignored to make your message fit into the character limits. In blog comments, however, using proper grammar and spelling is important for your own credibility.

Avoid common web abbreviations for standard words whenever possible. Not typing out words like “tomorrow” or “you” when the space is available for you to use simply looks lazy.

Enable the spell check feature on your browser, if one is available. This will help you to catch common misspellings that you might otherwise overlook. If this isn’t available, write your comment in a word processor with spell check, then paste it into the site.

Proofread before submitting your comment. Be sure that you have followed rules, plus have used white space to make your comment easy to read. If people can’t understand what you are trying to say because of , they won’t have any respect for your thoughts, opinions, or advice.

When commenting on blogs to gain attention for yourself and your website, be sure to double check your spelling and grammar. Your credibility and the success of your commenting campaign depend on it.
